FMP: Digital Magazine
Introduction
My final major project will explore the concept of Afrofuturism and how it can be used to create something new in the visuals of tomorrow. Afrofuturism is all about fusing what was in the past with what is in the future, and my project will be for diaspora by diaspora. It will highlight commonalities that are Afrocentric while also highlighting how different we are. The project will have a central place that celebrates these differences by allowing a platform to explore them. Through this, I hope to create a unique and exciting project that showcases the beauty of Afro-futurism.

Target Audience
By identifying my target audience based on demographics, interests, geographic location, behaviours, and needs, I can create a digital magazine tailored to their interests and needs, while also being palatable to Eurocentric and Western audiences. This will allow me to provide high-quality content that is accessible and appealing to a wide range of readers, and encourages them to make more sustainable and ethical fashion choices.
Demographics
My target audience may be women and men between 18-35 who are interested in fashion, sustainability, and African culture. I may be a student or young professional who is eco-conscious and wants to support ethical and sustainable fashion.
Interests
My target audience may be interested in African fashion, culture, and history. I may also be interested in sustainability, ethical fashion, and eco-friendly products.
Geographic location
My target audience may be located in urban areas with a large African diaspora population or in areas with a high interest in sustainable fashion.
Behaviors
My target audience may be interested in supporting small businesses and independent designers who prioritise sustainability and ethical practices. I may also be interested in learning about the production process and materials used in sustainable fashion.
Needs
My target audience may have specific needs, such as finding ways to incorporate African fashion into their wardrobe. I will aim to provide content that is relevant to these needs and also appeals to Eurocentric and Western audiences.

Afroelle is my go-to digital magazine for celebrating African women and their achievements in various fields, including fashion, beauty, entrepreneurship, and activism. I love reading articles, interviews, and photo shoots that highlight the experiences and perspectives of African women from all over the world. By reading Afroelle magazine, I gain a deeper understanding of the diverse cultures, traditions, and perspectives of African women, as well as learn about the latest trends and innovations in fashion and beauty. I also use this magazine as inspiration for my own photo shoots and articles, as well as discover new topics and themes to explore in my magazine. To add, I can tell you that their photography is typically high-quality and well-composed. They often use natural lighting and vibrant colours to showcase the beauty of African fashion and culture. In terms of editing, they may use tools like Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop to adjust the exposure, contrast, and colour balance of their photos. Furthermore, they have a strong social media presence on platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. They also collaborate with other brands and influencers to expand their reach and engage with their audience. Additionally, they produce high-quality content that resonates with their target audience and promotes African fashion and culture.

The Good Trade's editorial standards and guidelines provide a valuable framework for producing high-quality content. Their guidelines cover a range of topics, from the tone and style of writing to the types of topics that should be covered. By adhering to these guidelines, I can ensure that my magazine is well-researched, inclusive, and aligned with my values.
One of the things I appreciate most about The Good Trade's guidelines is their focus on sustainability and ethical practices. They encourage creators to consider the environmental and social impact of their content, and to highlight brands and products that align with these values. This not only helps promote more sustainable and ethical practices, but also resonates with readers looking for content that is both informative and socially responsible.
By reading this magazine, I learn about the latest trends and innovations in sustainable fashion, as well as gain a deeper understanding of the social and environmental impacts of the fashion industry. I also use this magazine as inspiration for my own articles and photo shoots, as well as discover new topics and themes to explore in my magazine.

As a fashion enthusiast, I'm always looking for inspiration and new ideas. Recently, I've been exploring the world of fashion magazines, and one that has caught my eye is Vogue. With its high-end fashion photography, celebrity interviews, and coverage of fashion events, Vogue has established itself as a leader in the fashion industry.
My project aims to create an Afro-futuristic or Afrocentric digital magazine that challenges tokenism in the fashion industry, particularly for Vogue magazine. Tokenism is a significant issue that affects people of colour in various industries, including fashion. However, the recent #RunwayIcons event, held in collaboration with British Vogue and editor-in-chief Edward Enninful, showed that diversity and inclusion are growing in the fashion industry. To create an Afrofuturistic digital magazine, it is essential to consider the significance of having all-black models on the front covers, which can be a powerful way to showcase the beauty and diversity of black culture. The magazine can document current events while considering the conventions of traditional magazines and incorporating unique aspects of Afrofuturism and African culture. By learning from the impact Enninful had on the fashion and magazine industry, this digital magazine can resonate with readers and provide a platform for black voices in the fashion industry.

Techniques used by Vogue
What I find particularly interesting about Vogue is its use of colour theory and photography style. The magazine's photographers use various techniques to create aesthetically striking images that are both eye-catching and thought-provoking. They also use colour theory to create a mood and tone appropriate for the content of the article.
Practical Skills

I used Canva to create my digital magazine , and it was a great experience. I loved how easy it was to use and how many design options were available. I was able to choose from many templates and customise them to fit my specific needs.

When I was finished designing my magazine, I exported it as a PDF and decided to take things a step further and use Flipbook to make it even more interactive. Flipbook is a digital publishing platform that allows you to turn your PDF into an online magazine that readers can flip through like a real magazine. Using Flipbook was also very easy. I simply uploaded my PDF to the platform and customised the design to fit my preferences. I was able to add interactive elements like links and videos, which made the magazine even more engaging for readers.
Locations

Stockholm is known for being a sustainable city. It has been named the European Green Capital and has a reputation for being environmentally friendly. I thought that focusing on Stockholm would be a great way to highlight the city's sustainability initiatives and inspire readers to think about how they can make their own communities more sustainable.
Secondly, Stockholm is home to many sustainable fashion brands. The city has a vibrant fashion scene, and many designers are focusing on creating clothing that is both stylish and eco-friendly. I thought that featuring these brands in my magazine would be a great way to showcase the latest trends in sustainable fashion and inspire readers to make more environmentally conscious choices in their own wardrobe. Finally, I chose Stockholm because it is a beautiful city with a rich cultural heritage. I thought that featuring the city's architecture, art, and history would be a great way to create a visually stunning magazine that would appeal to a wide audience.
